Cushing syndrome in children.

Cushing syndrome occurs when child body is exposed to high levels of the hormone cortisol for a long time. It’s caused by a tumour on the pituitary gland or adrenal gland, or taking some kinds of medicine. Cushing syndrome may cause excess weight, slow growth, and problems with sexual development. Treatment for overactive adrenal glands may include surgical removal of growths on the adrenal gland(s) or the adrenal gland(s) itself. Physician may also prescribe medications that block the excessive production of certain hormones. Cushing syndrome can affect a child's growth, development, and self-esteem. Getting treatment as soon as possible can help lessen problems. A healthy diet can ease some symptoms and prevent others. Protect your bones by eating foods with calcium and vitamin D is essential.
