Syndrome Top Open Access Journals

A syndrome may be a set of medical signs and symptoms which are correlated with one another and sometimes related to a specific disease or disorder. The word derives from the Greek language, meaning "concurrence". In some cases, a syndrome is so closely related with a pathogenesis or cause that the words disease, syndrome, and disorder end up being used interchangeably for them. This is especially true of inherited syndromes. For example, toxic shock syndrome is often caused by various toxins; premotor syndrome is often caused by various brain lesions; and PMS isn't a disease but simply a set of symptoms. If an underlying genetic cause is suspected but not known, a condition could also be mentioned as a genetic association. By definition, an association indicates that the gathering of signs and symptoms occurs together more frequently than would be likely accidentally alone.
