Perinatal Depression Review Articles

Untreated perinatal depression is associated with significant morbidity for mother–infant pairs via association with adverse obstetric outcomes and as a risk factor for poor maternal health, inadequate prenatal care, and postpartum depression. Pregnant and new mothers who find themselves overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, persistently teary, or depressed shouldn't be silent or ashamed. This is an important concept, because depression during pregnancy has definite and deleterious effects on the fetus and long-term adverse effects on the child. Supporting the chin while holding it to the mask helps preserve a decent seal.
