Tissue Engineering In Autologous Organs
The use of engineered autologous tissues might be an option for the creation of vaginal organs. Tissue-engineering techniques developed in laboratory showed that vaginal organs can be created by using autologous muscle and vaginal mucosal cells and are functional in rabbits. Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine have been rapidly developed as an encouraging alternative practice to restore lost or malfunctioning tissues and organs through the use of cells and biomaterial scaffolds. Tissue-specific extracellular matrix (ECM) through decellularization of tissues and organs. Vaginal organs from the patient's own cells and implanted, shows the normal structural and functional variables up to 8 years. These technologies could be useful for vaginal reconstruction.
