Stem Cell Journals
A stem cell is a cell with the single ability to advance into specialised cell types in the body. In the future they may be used to swap cells and tissues that have been injured or lost due to disease. In stem cell transplants, stem cells replace cells injured by chemotherapy or disease or serve as a way for the donor's immune system to competition some types of cancer and blood-related diseases, such as leukaemia, lymphoma, neuroblastoma and many myelomas. These moves use adult stem cells or umbilical cord blood. Adult stem cells can be isolated from the body in dissimilar ways, depending on the tissue. Blood stem cells, for sample, can be occupied from a donor's bone marrow, from blood in the umbilical cord when a baby is born, or from a person's mixing blood.
