52. Root Bacteria

Root nodules are mainly found on roots of plants primarily legumes that form a symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing bacteria. Under the nitrogen-limiting conditions, the plants are able to form a symbiotic relationship with a host-specific strain of bacteria known as rhizobia. This process has been evolved around multiple times within the legumes, as well as in other species found within the Rosin clade. Legume crops include beans, peas, and soybeans. Plant roots provide a unique environment for the diverse assemble of soil microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and Achaea. The microbial communities that are inside the root and in the rhizosphere that is distinct from each other from the microbial communities of bulk soil although there is some overlap in species of composition.
