Photodynamic Therapy Scientific Journals

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment that utilizes the photosensitizing agent, and a specific kind of light. These photosensitizing agents are uncovered to light of unique wavelength such that it can define to what extent light can travel in the body. PDT is utilized Medically to cure an immense range of clinical conditions, which includes atherosclerosis, wet age-related macular degeneration, psoriasis, and has shown some efficacy in anti-viral treatments, including herpes. It also cures malignant cancers including head and neck, lung, bladder and particular skin. The technology has also been experimented for treatment of prostate cancer, both in a dog model and in human prostate cancer patients. Thus, photosensitizing agents and light of unique wavelength are used by the doctors to treat different areas of the body with PDT.
