Employment Growth

The explanatory variables presented into employment growth regressions are regularly very similar to those considered in productivity regressions, except that local density is replaced by the local total employment. Estimated with specifications generally include dynamic agglomeration effects following (5.63) but not sztatic effects. Consequences for the effect of the total employment on the industrial employment growth evidently illustrate the diversity of results and obtained in the literature on local employment growth. Outside of the fact that samples for different countries and periods are used, the earlier section illustrates how the use of dissimilar specifications changes the interpretation of the estimated effects.
