Vascular Dementia Scholarly Peer-review Journal

In vascular dementia, changes in thinking ability skills sometimes occur suddenly after a stroke, which blocks major blood vessels within the brain. Thinking difficulties can also begin as mild changes that gently worsen as results of multiple minor strokes or another condition that affects smaller blood vessels, resulting in widespread damage. A increasing no. of experts preferred to term “vascular cognitive impairment” (VCI) as “vascular dementia” because they feel it will better express the concept that vascular capability changes can range from mild to severe. This occurs when the coronary arteries become blocked or clogged, often this leads to an irregular heartbeat - called an arrhythmia - that causes a severe decrease in the pumping function of the heart. A blockage that's not treated within a couple of hours causes the affected cardiac muscle to die.
