Plant Parasitic Nematodes

Nematodes are thread-like roundworms that lives in a broad range of environments along with soil and fresh and salt water. Nematodes this feed on plant parts are known as  plant parasitic nematodes (PPN) and are ubiquitous in agricultural soils.  The phylum Nematoda  are also called as Nemathelminthes ,Considering plant-parasitic nematodes  are called as eelworms. They are a diverse animal phylum inhabiting a broad range based on environments. Taxonomies are classified with insects and moulting animals are in the clade Ecdysozoa, and unlike flatworms, acquires tubular digestive systems for openings at both the ends. Such as tardigrades they acquire a reduced number considered as  Hox genes, although as their sister phylum Nematomorpha has kept the ancestral protostome Hox genotype, it shows that the reduction has occurred within the nematode phylum.
