Innate Immunity Online Journals

The system comprises both innate and adaptive immune responses. Innate immunity occurs naturally due to genetic factors or physiology; it's not induced by infection or vaccination but works to scale back the workload for the adaptive immune reaction. Both the innate and adaptive levels of the immune reaction involve secreted proteins, receptor-mediated signaling, and complex cell-to-cell communication.
