Haematopoiesis Innovations
Haematopoiesis refers to the commitment and differentiation processes that lead to the formation of all blood cells from haematopoietic stem cells. In adults, haematopoiesis occurs mainly in the bone marrow (medullary), but it can also occur in other tissues such as the liver, thymus and spleen (extramedullary).
Hematopoiesis is that the process by which immature precursor cells become mature blood cells. The currently accepted theory on how this process works is named the monophyletic theory which simply means one sort of somatic cell gives rise to all or any the mature blood cells in the body.
The production of all kinds of blood cells including formation, development, and differentiation of blood cells. Prenatally, hematopoiesis occurs within the yolk sack, then within the liver, and lastly within the bone marrow.
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are liable for the assembly of mature blood cells in bone marrow; peripheral pancytopenia may be a common clinical presentation resulting from several different conditions, including hematological or extra-hematological diseases (mostly cancers) affecting the marrow function, also as primary failure of hematopoiesis.
