Gasoline Phytotoxicity

Gasoline also described gas or petrol, mixture of volatile, flammable liquid hydrocarbons obtained from petroleum and used as fuel for internal-combustion engines. It is also utilized as a solvent for oils and fats. Fossil fuels are still the main source of energy representative approximately 80% of the total world supply. However, its exploration, retrieval and use represent serious environmental problems, which are mainly connected with the production of greenhouse gases and pollution of land and water resources. Phytotoxicity studies with crude oil on native Brazilian trees included plant growth, root length, produced biomass, tissue analysis, etc. Typical phytotoxicity studies with trees for phytoremediation application also involve elaborated research on uptake potential, metabolic pathways, in vitro systems with cell suspension, hairy root cultures, etc.
