In fields of dentistry where 3D imaging is important, CBCT is taken into account by some to be the quality of care. CBCT is accomplished by employing a rotating gantry to which an X-ray source and detector are fixed. A divergent pyramidal- or cone-shaped source of radiation is directed through the center of the world of interest onto a neighborhood X-ray detector on the other side of the patient. The X-ray source and detector rotate around a hard and fast fulcrum within the region of interest (ROI). During the exposure sequence many planar projection images are acquired of the sector of view (FOV) in an arc of a minimum of. During this single rotation, CBCT provides precise, essentially immediate and accurate 3D radiographic images. As CBCT exposure incorporates the whole FOV, just one rotational sequence of the gantry is important to accumulate enough data for image reconstruction. CBCT may be a complementary modality for specific applications instead of a replacement for 2D imaging modalities.
