Colostrum Scholarly Open Access Peer Review Journal

Colostrum (known colloquially as beestings, bisnings or initial milk) is that the initial variety of milk made by the mammary glands of mammals (including several humans) instantly following delivery of the newborn. Most species can generate milk simply before parturition. milk contains antibodies to shield the newborn against disease. In general, protein concentration in milk is considerably higher than in milk. Fat concentration is considerably higher in milk than in milk in some species, e.g. sheep and horses, but lower in milk than in milk in some other species, e.g. camels and humans. In swine, fat concentration of milk at forty eight to seventy two hours postpartum could also be above in milk or in late-lactation milk. Fat concentration in bovine milk is extremely variable.
