Clinical Nanomedicine

The use of nanotechnology in medicine has the potential to possess a serious impact on human health for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. One particular aim of the nanomedicine field which has received an excellent deal of attention is that the development and design of nanoparticulate nanomedicines (NNMs) for drug delivery (i.e., drug-containing nanoparticles). NNMs are intended to deliver drugs through various mechanisms: passive targeting, solubilization, active targeting, and triggered release. The NNM approach aims to extend therapeutic efficacy, decrease the therapeutically effective dose, and/or reduce the danger of systemic side effects. In order to maneuver a NNM from the bench to the bedside, several experimental challenges got to be addressed.

Nanomedicine applies to nanotechnology to highly specific medical interventions for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. One particular aspect of the nanomedicine field which has received an excellent deal of attention is that the design and development of nanoparticulate nanomedicines (NNMs) for drug delivery, which are most often given by parenteral (particularly intravenous) administration.
