Best Catalysis Journals
Catalysis is that the process of accelerating the speed of a reaction by adding a substance referred to as a catalyst, which isn't consumed within the catalyzed reaction and may continue to act repeatedly. Because of this, only very little amount of catalyst are required to change the reaction rate in most of the cases.
Chemical reactions occur faster within the presence of a catalyst because the catalyst provides an alternate reaction pathway with a lower energy of activation than the non-catalyzed mechanism. In catalyzed mechanisms, the catalyst usually reacts to make a short lived intermediate, which then regenerates the first catalyst during a cyclic process. Catalysts could also be classified as either homogeneous or heterogeneous. A homogeneous catalyst is one whose molecules are dispersed within the same phase (usually gaseous or liquid) because the reactant's molecules. A heterogeneous catalyst is one whose molecules aren't within an equivalent phase because the reactant's, which are typically gases or liquids that are adsorbed onto the surface of the solid catalyst.
