Toxicokinetics Review Articles

Toxicokinetics is a definition of both the rate of reaching the body by a chemical and what happens to excrete and metabolize the compound once it is in the body. This is a pharmacokinetics procedure to assess the relationship between a compound's systemic exposure and its toxicity. It is mainly used to create associations between the exposures in animal toxicology studies and the corresponding human exposures. Nevertheless, it may also be used in environmental risk assessments to evaluate the possible environmental effects of releasing chemicals. The toxicokinetics can be combined with toxicodynamics to quantify toxic effects. For ecotoxicology these toxicokinetic-toxicodynamic (TKTD) models are used. In the same way, physiological toxicokinetic models are physiological pharmacokinetic models designed to explain and predict a toxicant 's actions in an animal body.
