Postural Balance Open Access Journals
In biomechanics, balance is an ability to take care of the line of gravity (vertical line from centre of mass) of a body among the base of support with least minimal sway. Sway is that the horizontal movement of the centre of gravity even once an individual is standing still. a particular quantity of sway is important and inevitable because of small perturbations among the body (e.g., breathing, shifting weight from one foot to the opposite or from forefoot to rearfoot) or from external triggers (e.g., floor translations, visual distortions). a rise in sway isn't essentially an indicator of dysfunctional balance so much because it is an indicator of decreased sensorimotor control.[2]
Maintaining balance requires coordination of input from multiple sensory systems as well as the needs, somatosensory, and visual systems
