OXIDATIVE STRESS BIOMARKER JOURNALS
The potential of oxygen free radicals and other reactive oxygen species (ROS) to wreck tissues and cellular components, called oxidative stress.
Increased oxidative/nitrosative stress generally describes a condition during which cellular antioxidant defenses are inadequate to completely inactivate the reactive oxygen species (ROS) 1 and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) generated due to excessive production of ROS/RNS, loss of antioxidant defenses, or both. a serious consequence of oxidative/nitrosative stress is damage to macromolecule bases, lipids, and proteins, which may severely compromise cell health and viability or induce a spread of cellular responses through generation of secondary reactive species, ultimately resulting in necrobiosis by necrosis or apoptosis.
Oxidative stress may be a common mediator in pathogenicity of established cardiovascular risk factors. Identifying markers of oxidative stress has been the main target of the many researchers as they need the potential to act as an “integrator” of a mess of processes that drive cardiovascular pathobiology. one among the main challenges is that the accurate quantification of reactive oxygen species with very short half-life. Redox-sensitive proteins with important cellular functions a well-liked approach is that the measurement of stable by-products modified under conditions of oxidative stress that have entered the circulation. However, these might not accurately reflect redox stress at the cell/tissue level. Many of those modifications are “functionally silent”. Functional significance of the oxidative modifications enhances their validity as a proposed biological marker of disorder , and is that the strength of the redox cysteine modifications like glutathionylation.
Although related to disease severity, further studies are required to look at the utility of the foremost promising oxidative biomarkers to predict prognosis or response to treatment.
