Multiple Sclerosis Indexing

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease in which body's immune system attacks its own tissues. The immune system malfunction destroys the myelin which coats and protects nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord.  Muscle paralysis, muscle weakness, problems with coordination, stiff muscles, clumsiness, muscle spasms, or overactive reflexes. High-dose corticosteroids were used for acute relapses and parenteral interferon-β, glatiramer acetate for disease modification are moderately effective. Studies reveal that an inflammatory pathology characterizes the early relapsing stage of multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis disease-modifying therapies developing to specifically target the underlying pathology at each stage of the disease. Oral medications, monoclonal antibodies are used to reduce inflammation in relapsing multiple sclerosis and agents to promote neuroprotection in progressive multiple sclerosis.
