Kinetic Study Scholarly Peer-review Journal
Kinetics study of thermal degradation of polymers is crucial to know the degradation process intimately and is additionally useful for estimating thermal stability, which may help in circumventing the undesired/unexpected thermal degradation of polymeric products. Moreover, information supported kinetics studies are often applied to develop pyrolysis reactors for the thermal treatment of solid polymer wastes. Thermogravimetric analysis is that the most common analytical method useful to study the kinetics of polymer degradations and it includes evaluation of the activation of energy of the thermal degradation of polymers. The energy of activation is typically obtained by fitting kinetics data to varied reaction models, which give Arrhenius parameters (Peterson et al., 2001). The computations should be administered with experimental data obtained from different heating rates (nonisothermal) or temperatures (isothermal). Various thermokinetics models including global reactions useful for converting virgin material to volatiles and possibly char are commonly useful to study polymer decomposition (Li and Stoliarov, 2013).
