Carcinogenic shock (CS) may be a common explanation for mortality, and management remains challenging despite advances in therapeutic options. Carcinogenic shock is caused by severe impairment of myocardial performance that results in diminished cardiac output, end‐organ hypoperfusion, and hypoxia.This occurs when the coronary arteries become blocked or clogged, often this leads to an irregular heartbeat - called an arrhythmia - that causes a severe decrease in the pumping function of the heart. A blockage that's not treated within a couple of hours causes the affected cardiac muscle to die.
