Endocrinology Impact Factor

By now, you'll have heard the news that the foremost recent Impact Factor for Endocrinology moved (slightly) downward, calculated supported the amount of citations made across all journals in 2017 to articles published in Endocrinology in 2016 and 2015. There are many drivers of this lagging 3-year indicator, which we identified at the time i used to be recruited to be your editor-in-chief at the beginning of 2018. In lockstep with the associate editors and our editorial board, we've begun to correct course. Although the Impact Factor isn't the sole metric of a successful journal, it's a metric employed by an outsized group of universities to assess tenure and promotion. Moreover, it's a yardstick by which we will compare our citation rates with those of peer journals. So, we will argue about its true value but, within the end, I care about the Impact Factor because it helps the planet know that we are an authoritative source of high-quality endocrine science.
