In a healthy body, blood clots play a very important role during this. At the location of a cut, blood platelets and red blood cells are held together by a rope-like molecule known as fibrin. This forms a blood clot, which plugs up the cut and stops bleeding. this can be a very important method, however it will cause major health problems once it happens at the incorrect time. once a blood clot forms within the veins, it's referred to as venous thromboembolism. this could cause deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms. once a clot forms within the arteries, it's known as atherothrombosis, which might cause heart attack and stroke.
