Anorexia (an-o-REK-see-uh) nervosa — usually merely known as anorexia — is an disorder characterized by an abnormally low weight, an intense concern of gaining weight and a distorted perception of weight. individuals with anorexia place a high worth on dominant their weight and form, exploitation extreme efforts that tend to significantly interfere with their lives.

To prevent weight gain or to continue losing weight, individuals with anorexia usually severely limit the amount of food they eat. control management calorie intake by vomiting when eating or by misusing laxatives, diet aids, diuretics or enemas. they will also attempt to lose weight by exercise to a fault. no matter how much weight is lost, the person continues to concern weight gain.

Anorexia isn't concerning food. It's an especially unhealthy and typically life-threatening way to try to deal with emotional issues. once you have anorexia, you often equate thinness with self-worth.
