Scientific Journalism Journals

Journalism is the activity of gathering, assessing, creating, and presenting reports on current or past events. The term journalism applies to the occupation, as well as citizen journalists who gather and publish information. Journalistic media include television, print, Internet, radio and in the past, newsreels. Each journalistic form and style uses diverse techniques and writes for different purposes and audiences. There are five principal types of journalism: news investigative, columns, reviews and feature writing. Journalists can face brutality and threats for exercising their fundamental right to freedom of expression. The range of threats they are confronted to include kidnapping, murder, hostage-taking, online and offline harassment, intimidation, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention and torture. Scientific journals include articles that are peer reviewed, to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity. The publication of the results of research is a fundamental part of the scientific method. If they are describing experiments or calculations, they must provide enough details that an independent researcher could repeat the experiment or calculation to verify the results. Every such journal article becomes part of the permanent scientific record.
