Scholarly Journalism Journals

Journalism is the activity of gathering, assessing, creating, and presenting reports on current or past events. The term journalism applies to the occupation, as well as citizen journalists who gather and publish information. Journalistic media include television, print, Internet, radio and in the past, newsreels. Each journalistic form and style uses diverse techniques and writes for different purposes and audiences. There are five principal types of journalism: news investigative, columns, reviews and feature writing. Journalists can face brutality and threats for exercising their fundamental right to freedom of expression. The range of threats they are confronted to include kidnapping, murder, hostage-taking, online and offline harassment, intimidation, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention and torture. Scholarly journals provide as forums for the introduction and presentation for analysis of new research, and the review of existing research. Content usually takes the form of articles presenting original research, review articles, and book reviews. The word Scholarly journal applies to scholarly publications in all fields; this article discusses the aspects common to all academic field journals.
