Renal Osteodystrophy

Renal osteodystrophy is considered by abnormalities in bone turnover, mineralization, and bone volume. The effects of the treatment modalities for renal osteodystrophy on the bone should be analyzed with the respect to these irregularities. The major treatment of the modalities for renal osteodystrophy included in phosphate binders, vitamin D compounds, and calcimimetics. Aluminium-containing phosphate binders have been exposed to be toxic to bone secondary to their belongings on bone turnover, mineralization, and bone volume. The usage of calcium-based phosphate folders has been associated with the development of adynamic bone disease (low bone turnover), bone loss, and worsening of the vascular calcifications. New nonaluminum, noncalcium phosphate binders have been developed.
