Reflex Anuria Scientific Journals

Reflex anuria has been a very rare cause of renal impairment. It is often described after the surgical procedures that involve the manipulation of bladder or the ureter. Manipulation consists of irritation or trauma to the kidney or the ureter. A number of case reports describe the occurrence following pelvic surgery and colorectal procedures. It has also been described in situations when there is a ureteric obstruction. Renal function returns to normal size after the disease causing the non-functional kidney has been treated.
