Psychosurgery Top Journals
Advances in surgical technique declined to the incidence of death. Psychosurgery is a disconnection of brain tissue caused by mental illness. The biological markers of psychiatric disorders to use less invasive techniques open new horizons in the treatment of schizophrenic patients and the remaining risks include seizures, weight gain, and cognitive and affective problems. Psychosurgery is a collaboration between psychiatrists and neurosurgeons. Under a anaesthetics, a small piece of brain is destroyed or removed. The most common types of psychosurgery in recent use are subcaudate tractotomy and limbic leucotomy. Lesions are made by thermo-coagulation. One third of patients proved an improvement in symptoms.
