Organic Pollutants Peer-Review Journals
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are chemicals having negative effects on human health and the environment. Humans are exposed to these chemicals in a different variety of ways: mainly through the food we eat, and also through the air we breathe, in the outdoor conditions, indoors and at the place we work. Many products that are used in our daily lives may contain POPs, which have been added for the improvement of product characteristics, such as as surfactants. As a result, POPs can be found literally everywhere on our planet in huge concentrations. Examples are organochlorine pesticides, such as DDT, industrial chemicals, as well as by-products of many industrial processes.
