Analytical toxicology is that the use of the whole range of qualitative and quantitative chemical, immunochemical, and physical techniques utilized in sample preparation, separation, assay calibration, detection and identification, and quantification for the purposes of toxicological research and testing.

Analytical toxicology is that the detection, identification, and measurement of foreign compounds (xenobiotics) in biological and other specimens.
