Coronary Artery Disease:

Damage or disease within the heart's major blood vessels. The usual cause is the build-up of plaque. This causes coronary arteries to narrow, limiting blood flow to the guts. Coronary artery disease can range from no symptoms, to pain , to a attack . Treatments include lifestyle changes, medication, angioplasty and surgery. Coronary artery disease is that the narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, usually caused by atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis (sometimes called "hardening" or "clogging" of the arteries) is that the buildup of cholesterol and fatty deposits (called plaques) on the inner walls of the arteries. These plaques can restrict blood flow to the guts muscle by physically clogging the artery or by causing abnormal artery tone and performance .

Without an adequate blood supply, the guts becomes starved of oxygen and therefore the vital nutrients it must work properly. This can cause chest pain called angina. If the blood supply to some of the guts muscle is stop entirely, or if the energy demands of the guts become much greater than its blood supply, a attack (injury to the guts muscle) may occur.
