Common Applications Of Proteomics
Proteomics is the large-scale study of proteins, especially their structures and functions. Proteins are vital parts of living beings, as they are the main elements of the physiological metabolic pathways of cells. Proteomics involves the applications of technologies for the identification and quantification of overall proteins produce content of a cell, tissue or an organism. It complements the other “omics” technologies such as genomic and transcriptomics to explain the identity of proteins of an organism, and to cognize the structure and functions of a certain protein. Proteomics-based technologies are used in various capacities for diverse research settings such as detection of various diagnostic markers, candidates for vaccine production, identifying pathogenicity mechanisms, change of expression patterns in response to various signals and clarification of functional protein pathways in different diseases.
