Chemotherapy (sometimes simply referred to as "chemo") is that the use of medicine to kill or slow the expansion of cancer cells. The drugs are referred to as cytotoxics, which means harmful to cells (cyto). a number of these drugs return from natural sources like plants, whereas others are fully made in a laboratory.

All cells within the body grow by splitting into 2 cells or dividing. chemotherapy damages cells that are dividing quickly. Most chemotherapy medicine enter the bloodstream and travel throughout the body to focus on quickly dividing cancer cells within the organs and tissues. this is often referred to as systemic treatment. generally chemotherapy is delivered directly to the cancer. this is often referred to as native therapy.
