Blunt Trauma Research Articles

Blunt trauma is the major cause of both maternal and fetal death and is normally a consequence of MVCs, assaults, or falls. Although mortality rates are related for pregnant versus nonpregnant blunt trauma patients, with the same Injury Severity Scores (ISS), their figure of injury is notably different. Pregnant patients livid in MVCs are more likely to prolong significant body part injuries and less likely to sustain head injuries than their nonpregnant duplication. Splenic, viscus and retroperitoneal injuries happen more often in gravid trauma patients, due in part to the increased vascularity connected with pregnancy as well as to the translation of the abdominal contents by the uterus. Up to 25% of pregnant blunt trauma patients keep up significant splenic or hepatic lacerations.
