Biomagnification Open Access Articles
Biomagnifications is the rise in the amount of a pollutant from one component in a food chain to another, which can be further described as the increasing concentration of a material in the tissues of organisms at the highest levels of a food chain, such as a poisonous chemical. Biomagnification means that species at the top of the food chain typically experience greater harm from a persistent toxin or pollutant than those at lower levels. As they pass up the chain, the substances get progressively concentrated in tissues or internal organs. Bioaccumulants are compounds that increase concentration in living organisms when they absorb polluted air , water, or food, as they are metabolized or excreted very slowly.
