A Hepatology
Hepatology is a branch of drugs concerned with the study, anticipation, analysis and management of diseases that affect the liver, gallbladder, biliary tree and pancreas. The term hepatology springs from the Greek words “hepatikos” and “logia,” which mean liver and study, respectively. Hepatitis affects many individuals globally and is related to several poor outcomes including liver transplant and cancer of the liver. In particular, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are major causes of cancer of the liver, while alcoholic abuse has been linked to conditions like cirrhosis and other serious complications. The conditions hepatologists affect most often are hepatitis and alcohol-related disease. Journals contain articles that peer reviewed, in an attempt to form sure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity.
