Risk assessment of pathological ageing from a neuropsychological disorder.
Reviewing research on patients with a range of persistent pain disorders, we present evidence that psychosocial factors are important in determining risk for the onset of pain, determining long-term pain-related adjustment, and influencing the effectiveness of pain management. Understanding the causes of chronic pain and how it develops requires knowledge of concepts and procedures. In this article, we examine the psychosocial factors that affect the development, maintenance, and exacerbation of chronic pain problems.Author(s): Susan Michie
