Transcription Impact Factor
Transcription is the first step in gene expression. It involves copying a gene's DNA sequence to form an RNA molecule. Transcription is performed by enzymes called RNA polymerases, which link nucleotides to make an RNA strand (using a DNA strand as a template).
Transcription is that the process during which a gene's DNA sequence is copied (transcribed) to form an RNA molecule. RNA polymerase uses one of the DNA strands as a template to make a new, complementary RNA molecule. Transcription ends in a process called termination.
The purpose of transcription is to form RNA copies of individual genes that the cell can use within the biochemistry. The purpose of translation is to synthesize proteins, which are used for many cellular functions. Translation is that the synthesis of a protein from an mRNA template.
Transcription begins when RNA polymerase binds to a promoter sequence near the start of a gene (directly or through helper proteins). RNA polymerase uses one among the DNA strands (the template strand) as a template to form a replacement , complementary RNA molecule. Transcription ends in a process called termination.
