Thrombocytopenia Journals

Thrombocytopenia or low platelet count is a lower than a normal number of platelets (less than 150,000 platelets per microliter) in the blood. Thrombocytopenia may be inherited or acquired when conditions can occurs, such as the use of certain drugs. Causes of thrombocytopenia can be classified in three groups: Diminished production (caused by viral infections, vitamin deficiencies, aplastic anemia, drug-induced), Increased destruction (caused by drugs, heparin [HIT], idiopathic, pregnancy, immune system), Sequestration (caused by an enlarged spleen, neonatal, gestational, pregnancy). Thrombocytopenic has symptoms may include Petechiae (superficial tiny areas of bleeding into the skin resulting in small reddish spots). Blood is made up of several types of the cells. These cells can float in a liquid called plasma. They are different  types of blood cells are red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, or thrombocytes.

When your skin is injured or broken, then the platelets clump together and form the clots to stop the bleeding. When you don’t have enough then the platelets in your blood, your body can’t form clots. At low platelet count may also be called thrombocytopenia. This condition can range from mild to severe, it depending on its underlying cause.
