Systemic Acquired Resistance Open Access Journal

Systemic acquired resistance (SAR) may be a variety of induced resistance that's activated throughout a plant when being exposed to elicitors from virulent, avirulent, or non-pathogenic microbes, or artificial chemical stimuli such as chitosan or 2-hydroxybenzoic acid Induction of SAR is characterised by the accumulation of 2-hydroxybenzoic acid to stimulate defense mechanisms, usually leading to a localized hypersensitive response. SA isn't a mobile signal agent, however is proposed to be the primary chemical within the induction of pathogenesis-related (PR) genes, particularly PR-1 (Sticher et al., 1997; Fu and Dong, 2013). PR genes code for proteins like chitinases and β-1,3-glucanases among others, and play a role in either preventing or slowing colonisation of pathogens within the host
