Photochemical Smog

Photochemical smog is a brown haze in the atmosphere which is a mixture of pollutants that are formed when nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds react to sunlight. It tends to happen more frequently in summer, because that is when we have the most sunlight. Ozone is the main component in this type of air pollution. It is more prominent during the morning and afternoon especially in densely populated, warm cities. This smog is capable of inflicting irreversible damage on the lungs and heart. Even short-term exposure to photochemical smog tends to have ill effects on both the elderly and the young.
