Peritoneal dialysis is the form of a treatment for patients suffering from severe chronic kidney disease. It lacks the individual’s peritoneum in abdomen as a membrane. A permanent tube is used for to introduce fluid in the abdomen. It is then flushed out either every night although the patient sleeps or by regular exchanges throughout the day. Peritoneal dialysis is used just as an alternative to the hemodialysis. Complications can include infections within the abdomen, high blood sugar, hernias, bleeding in the abdomen.
