Ocean surface topography is called as ocean dynamic topography is related to the field of ocean surface that is similar to the hills and valleys of Earth's land surface on a topographic map. These variations are expressed in terms of average sea surface height (SSH) which is relative to the Earth's geoid. The main purpose of measuring ocean surface topography is to understand the large-scale ocean circulation.These measurements provide information about the topography of the ocean’s surface which is used to study weather, climate, and other dynamic ocean phenomena. It also consists of many other applications, such as in fisheries management, navigation and offshore operations.
