Neck Sarcomas Open Access Journals

Head and neck sarcomas are uncommon tumors, and this makes a strict study of clinical behavior difficult. As a result, management algorithms are drawn from retrospective case series, and principles are plagiarized from the treatment of sarcomas at other sites, rather than from big clinical trials. Their study is also made more difficult by the diverseness of histologic subtypes and the uncertain clinical behavior. Furthermore, the constrictive anatomy and proximity to vital structures make even adherence to traditional margin-driven medical care challenging. The demographics of head and neck sarcomas, the clinical activity of the common subtypes, and general treatment law will be reviewed here. An overview of the medical specialty, clinical presentation, histopathology, diagnostic evaluation, and staging of soft tissue and bone sarcomas, and a discussion of treatment for sarcomas arising at other sites are discussed elsewhere.
