Drug Carriers

A drug carrier is any substrate which is used in the process of drug delivery that serves to improve the selectivity, effectiveness, and safety of drug administration. Drug carriers are used to control the release of a drug into systemic circulation. This can be accomplished either by slow release of  drug over a long period of time or by triggered release at the drug's target by some stimulus, which results in level of pH, application of heat, and activation by light. It is also used to improve the pharmacokinetic properties, specifically the bioavailability, of many drugs with poor water solubility or membrane permeability. The Journal of Drug Designing is an Open Access that publishes the highest quality scientific articles merging broad range of fields including molecular modelling, clinical research and drug discovery and delivery.
