Artemia

Artemia is also known as brine shrimp, which is a genus of aquatic crustaceans. The Anostracan genus Artemia is used economically as a rapidly growing food source for mollusks, shrimp and farm fish. The eggs are collected in bulk from salt lakes and shipped dry to aquaculture farms. The eggs are stored dry until needed and then easily hatched in bulk as live food. These are edible by humans which is easily digested and high in protein and omega 3 fats. Artemia are found worldwide in inland saltwater lakes. As it has high adaptability to wide salinity range of 5-250 g L−1 and also to temperature from 6 to 35°C. They have a short lifecycle, high fecundity, and can be obtained from cysts hatching.
