Abstract:

Clinical prosthodontics has witnessed seismic changes in diagnostic methodologies, restorative care options, material science, application of digital technology and the use of evidence-based practice as the foundation for successful rehabilitation in the present day. With increase in life expectancy, greater awareness, better oral health care measures, changes in the pattern of dental disease and tooth loss, more number of older adults is retaining their dentition with high expectations as regards function, aesthetics and longevity of the treatment rendered which in turn a direct bearing on clinical prosthodontics has practiced worldwide. The next 15 years will surely bring exponential changes in the entire speciality of prosthodontics and how we embrace these changes will define our domain. This scientific paper highlights the latest along with future suggestions for improvement in various sub arenas of maxillofacial prosthodontics, rehabilitation of partial and complete edentulism, biomaterials and prosthodontic research to predict a brighter future.

Biography:

Maninder Hundal, a Prosthodontist of established repute is currently serving as the Deputy Director in the Naval Institute of Dental Sciences at Mumbai which is a prestigious Institute of the Indian Armed Forces. She is an officer of the rank of a Surg Captain in the Indian Navy and has served the forces for 18 years. She has been awarded numerous awards by the Indian Army as well as the Indian Navy for her meritorious work in serving the organization in both field as well as peace establishments. She did her bachelor’s in dental surgery from Govt. Dental College, Punjab in 1997 with a gold medal and her masters in Prosthodontics from Armed Forces Medical College, Mumbai University, India in the year 2001-2004. She is an avid national and international speaker with numerous scientific papers and publications to her credit. She is also an affiliate faculty for the post graduate residents of Prosthodontics at the Army Dental Centre; Referral and Research, New Delhi as well as the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India.
